I have something special to tell you and that is Desire and Love.
If you have the desire for writing.
If you love writing, then 90% of the work has been done.
You just need to do the remaining 10% to become a good writer.
You should understand that things are simple and they look good when they are simple. So is the writing.
There is nothing complicated and hard in case of becoming a good writer.
A writer (you) needs a paper, pen and a heart that has the desire and love for writing.
Since you have these options then I am going to share a few tips that will do the rest of the magic.
The first step is to pick up a pen and start writing. If you want to write something, then don’t waste time anymore. Start writing it now. Even if you are a beginner or a student.
Delaying your desire is the first thing that is preventing you from becoming a good writer.
After reading this article, the first task for you is to pick up a notebook and start playing the game of writing. It will feel awesome!
2-Don’t Be Afraid
In the second step, I will share my experience with you, whenever I start writing, Lots of negative questions comes to my mind. Just like
what people would say?
“No one is going to read it”
“Others are far better than me”
And your case will be also the same. Because these kinds of questions come to everyone’s mind when someone tries to write their first piece of content.
But the reality is the opposite. No one is born a writer, player or politician. So you have to try and ignore these questions and give attention to your writing.
I have seen several world-famous writers who were rejected by publishers. But they didn’t give up and they succeeded.
That’s why I promise you that every word you write will have its value. Your task is just writing it as soon as possible.
3-Write Simple but Interesting
The third step is very important but not difficult. There are two things to keep in mind when writing.
The first one is simplicity. We all love it. Whether you are a writer or a reader. Both want simplicity, not complication.
You may ask what is easy writing?
The answer is to ” use simple words”.
Yes, there are many words having the same meaning. So you should use words which are common.
The best way to find simple words is to use daily conversation words. They are easy and common so no one would feel complicated.
I recommend you to use active voice as well to make your writing simple. It doesn’t mean that passive voice is not important. See what looks good in a particular place.
The second one is the backbone of your writing. And that is “making your content interesting”.
If you write something boring just to make it look simple, that’s not true. People love to read what they find interesting.
Keep a balance between simplicity and interest in the writing. There are many ways to write an interesting piece of content.
But I will share the most common factors below. Which matters in almost every kind of content.
Before writing the first word of your content, you have to look for two things.
- Your interest in the topic
- Readers interest in the topic
The first one is easy to find as you know yourself better than everyone.
The second one can be found by searching the topic on Google. Just go to Google keyword planner and type the topic you are interested in.
Google keyword planner will show an estimate monthly searches for that keyword. By doing this you can get a complete idea about how popular your topic is.
You can use social media as well to find the response of the readers for your topic. So choosing an interesting topic is very important. As a blogger, it is also important for SEO.
The second way to make your content interesting is to use examples. It attracts the reader and makes them engaged with the content.
4-Where to Write
This question may look strange to you but it matters for the writers like me and you. I recommend you to write on paper instead of a laptop or pc.
Personally whenever I pick up a pen and paper. Many topics come to my mind.
On the laptop, I feel tired of writing something new. That’s why I use simple objects and letter copy instead of a laptop.
I don’t say to avoid laptops completely. I just want you to use it for formatting the text, not writing it.
Yes! To look professional, you need to format your text. Don’t think that putting words after words without formatting it will catch the attention of the readers.
No one is going to read 50 pages of only simple text to waste the time.
Formatting is a must-do step for every writer on the planet. Here I am going to share some of the basic tips on how to format your writing to make it reader-friendly.
Although there are several formatting options. But the most important ones are written below.
The first one is to use short paragraphs. It makes your writing stylish, clean and good looking. It also keeps the reader engaged. So don’t ignore this option.
Heading makes it clear for the reader to understand what you are writing about. The headings point out the important parts of your content. It also separates your content from each other.
6-Read Before You Write
To be a better writer, you need to be a better reader. Reading shines your mind and ability of writing.
You can get a number of words to share it with the world. Reading generates new ideas.
Without reading, there will not be something special to write about.
That’s why I recommend you to read books, articles, and blogs which you love.
7-Write What You Love
We all have favorite topics. And we should write something which we love. It is simple.
If you love politics and you start writing about sports. It will generate something very boring. Don’t do that.
Look at what you love and start writing about it. Every topic has readers and lovers. You can get your ideas in front of them. Some writers go after famous or trending topics which they don’t really love.
As a result, they don’t find decent readers just because they could not produce good content. It is very important to write about what you love and want to share your thoughts with the audience.
8-Take Care of Grammar
There is a sentence written below.
“I am go to school”
Does it sound good?
The answer will be huge no!
Because it shows how experience and mature the writer is.
Everyone is going to skip an article that has poor grammar.
What I mean is you must take care of grammar and rules. Your writing should be free of grammar mistakes.
The professional writers take care of grammar when they write.
For common mistakes I recommend you to install Grammarly on your device. It automatically finds errors and fixes them.
After completing your article
What’s the next step?
Is it time to publish your article?
It is time to read it again and see what needs to be fixed. Edit your article without mercy.
Do it a few hours later or the next day.
You may say why?
Because your mind gets tired when you use it too much. Close the notebook or pc. Take some coffee. Go for a walk. And check your article a few hours later or maybe the next day.
Read the article and cut all unnecessary words and sentences. check for grammar mistakes and fix them.
The final step
The last and final step is the most exciting moment for you. You have worked hard and written a great piece of content. Which has
- Super catchy headline
- Perfect grammar
- Right formation
Now it is time to overcome fear and ” Share it with the world”.
