How To Send USDT From Coinbase To MetaMask Wallet?
Despite the fact that Coinbase is one of the most popular cryptocurrency exchanges and centralized wallets, and has some great features.
However, as a crypto owner or trader, it is always a good idea to use decentralized wallets like trustwallet and metamask to ensure complete security.
Metamask is a popular decentralized wallet intended specifically for storing, buying, and trading Ethereum and Ethereum-based tokens.
Available for download on both android, and iOS, metamask serves as a browser extension as well on the desktop, macs, and laptops.
Today, I am going to show you how to securely send USDT [Tether] from Coinbase wallet [ exchange] to Metamask wallet.
Let’s dive right in:
How To Send USDT From Coinbase To MetaMask Wallet?
There are a few simple steps that you need to follow to send USDT [Tether] from Coinbase to the Metamask wallet.
Step 1- Add USDT [Tether] to Metamask wallet
Before you send/receive any cryptocurrency on the Metamask wallet, you need to import it by importing the network of the cryptocurrency. That is the case with USDT. Because it is not added automatically to the Metamask wallet.
Step 2- Copy The USDT Contract Address
The first step is to find the contract address of USDT on coinmarketcap. Go to https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/tether/ and copy the address of USDT by clicking on the duplicate icon.
You can also do it by simply typing ‘tether coinmarketcap’ in the Google search bar. Click on the first result, and find and copy the contract address from there.
Step 3- Log In To Metamask Wallet
Before you start going to the next steps, there are a few things to consider when installing and logging in to metamask:
- Create a new metamask wallet
- import an existent wallet using the seed phrase
- Log in to your existing wallet by using the password/fingerprints
If you are using metamask on a browser instead of a smartphone, you can access it by putting the password.
Step 4- Import USDT in Metamask
The interface of the metamask wallet is very user-friendly. You will see your ethereum balance on a screen.
The ethereum mainnet network is already selected. Have three options for the coin like send, receive, and swap.
But we are going to leave these options and click on import tokens written below.
Step 5- Paste The USDT Contract Address
USDT is a stable coin that is on multiple blockchains like ERC20, BEP, and more. The address we copied from the coinmarketcap was by default the address of USDT housed on the ethereum network ERC. So you do not worry about it.
After you have clicked on import tokens, now paste the address you copied from the coinmarketcap. You will find the USDT [ Tether].
Now click on ‘import token.
You will see it on the main screen along with ethereum like the image above.
You are done with this step. You have successfully added USDT [Tether] to the metamask wallet.
You are now able to send, USDT to any other wallet. Also, you can receive it from other exchanges, and wallets in metamask. The third option is swapping which is also available now for you in metamask.
Step 6- Click on Receive USDT
To receive USDT, you need to click on the ‘receive’ button and copy the address from there.
Step 7- Log In To Coinbase
Log in to Coinbase using your email address and password. You will find three options ‘buy, sell’ receive’ and send.
Click on send to open a new window.
You will see all your funds on the main page along with some options like send, receive, convert and buy.
Simply click on the Send button to get to the next window which looks like this.
Step 8- Send USDT By Pasting The Address
Here the bitcoin is automatically selected at the place of sending coin. Click on it to find other coins you have.
If you have USDT, it will show up. You need to click on it to select it as the sending coin.
Now you have two options:
- Enter the amount of USDT you want to send
- Enter the amount of USDT worth in US dollars, GBP, or other currencies
Once you have entered the amount of USDT, now you need to paste the address of USDT that you copied from metamask.
Paste it and click on continue. Coinbase will ask you to enter the 2FA for verification and security. Add the verification code and you are now done. It might take 10 minutes to several hours to complete this transaction.
The time depends on various factors so you have to wait if the USDT does not show in metamask immediately.
